Rachel is our "high school intern", currently a junior at Mansfield High School. She came to us in the summer of 2010, asking if she could volunteer at From My Shelf to fulfill "community project" hours required for graduation. She has continued to be a great help to us, with her intimate knowledge of a teenage bibliophile's perspective, as well as her better understanding of the media world of youtube and vlogs, and her love for writing, music, photography, and design. Here are some of Rachel's favorites:
*The Chronicles of Narnia , by C.S. Lewis
*The Chronicles of Narnia, Pop-Up , by Robert Sabuda
*Th1rteen R3asons Why , by Jay Asher
*Anything by John Green, but especially Looking for Alaska
*The Hunger Games trilogy, by Suzanne Collins

Narnia is a lifelong favorite of mine. I still collect lions, refer to Lantern Waste, and I cried when Pauline Barnes died. I'm not sure most people even know who she is, but her artwork for the Narnia books has touched me from my early childhood on up.

Ghostgirl is a book that has completely changed my life. Tonya Hurley's wise words have gotten my through the hardest times of my life and always provided a laugh when no one else could. Although this is available in paperback, the hardcover is really the more beautiful book. The panel on the front has a circular cut-out hole, with a see-through panel, showing the silhouette of the main character. It's a keeper.

I had heard so much about 'Perks' before reading it that it definitely had a reputation to live up to, and it did not disappoint. It's refined and beautified teen angst that shows us all the friends we are lucky enough to have or wish we did.
